Hey, it’s me again. It seems that we don’t have a technical topic today. So, I decided to write some free thoughts under the column of “Thoughts”。

Let’s start with Picture of today in Bing first. We have a picture of Castle of the Ancestral Puebloans today on Bing index page.

It was an ancient town, maybe, with residents making their lives on the cliff. At the first glance of the picture, I think the ancient people made full use of the geographical features of the cliff to obtain some benefits when they confronted some alien conflicts or even wars.

Wars and conflicts seem to witness the development of human beings. They push human technology, culture in a bloody violent manner.

Back from stone age, tribe people might fight against others with their fists and feet. Maybe some of them used stones as their weapon.

While later, some people find out that metals did better in cutting food and fighting against beasts. Thus, metal brought human beings to the “cold weapon” age.

Then, the gunpowder brought us to the hot weapon era. Guns, cannons,…

After that scientists cracked the secret from atoms and found the relationship between energy and mass.
E=mc2 was introduced to the world, bringing nuclear weapons.

As we can see, from the time being, the ways that people figure out to harm/destroy their “enemies” are evolving. Not only the power, but also the scope of the damages are evolving, from causing injuries to killing millions of lives in an instance.

Some may wonder if the evolving will stop at nuclear weapons? Obviously not. We are confronting something even worse today, COVID-19.

Evidence from UK showed that some biology institute might bring the pandemic to the world. It is more like a man-made disaster rather than a natural one.
Its impacts are so enormous and wide, causing millions of people losing their lives, turning world economy into depression, locking down busy metropolis like Shanghai.

I wish we could have shelters like Castle of the Ancestral Puebloans so that we can protect ourselves from danger. I wish we could use technology well to benefit the entire human beings instead of fighting against each other. I wish we could live on a peaceful planet.
